Sense of Place - Defence of Place A Case Study of the Toronto Island (University of Toronto, Department of Geography, 1981) was a pioneering investigation of "sense of place" and its relationship with one group's defence of their threatened place.
Given the continuing importance of "sense of place," the thesis has been scanned from a 1981 photocopy. Apologies for the poor quality of the maps and illustrations. But the text remains and can now reach new audiences of geographers, planners, heritage advocates, and others.
